My war against
the structure of modern society:
I see a lot of
problems with it. Where some people claim progress, I see the
problems inherent.
My war against real estate:
It would seem that in my design for the
compact cities that everyone would live in an apartment/condo, and
the real estate market (and realtors) would be out of jobs. Not so.
They simply move on to marketing the condos and apartments instead.
Boom. Done.
My war against the auto industry:
Justified, I think, because of the
tremendous effect of developing cars on the environment. It starts
with the efforts to get the raw materials from the ground, goes
through the manufacturing sector, and ends with them spewing noxious
fumes, and causing death and injury on the roads. Because of the risk
associated with driving an automobile, users are also required to pay
exorbitant amounts for insurance. By eliminating the need for cars in
society, we eliminate all these problems. As for the people working
in the auto manufacturing sector, it is not that big a stretch to go
from manufacturing cars to manufacturing either large vehicles used
only on limited sites (construction vehicles, mining equipment,
etc.). People will adapt. Cars will die. And the big vehicles I
mentioned will not run on gasoline or diesel – there are much
better options out there.
My war against traditional farming
methods:
Justified, in that:
- using current farming methods, farmers are cutting down the forests of the world
- Livestock create emissions (although there is a Beano for cows being tested)
- Traditional farming takes up vast areas of land that would be better left to return to their pre-agricultural state
- Relating back to the car issue, most of the food we eat is trucked in from farms that are far away from the cities we live in. Trucks release emissions into the atmosphere. By moving the farms that produce our food underneath the cities we live in, we cut that travel distance almost to zero.
My war against traditional styles of
government:
Explained in my power-sharing model of
government, with rotational heads of government and referenda for the
populace at large.
My war against businesses that are anti-union:
My war against businesses that are anti-union:
Basically follows my belief that
unnecessary levels of hierarchy leads to someone owning the company
and not doing hard work for their money, while the minions below them
toil for less money.
My war against Apple Computers:
I just never found their products
particularly useful. I'm aware that other people do – and good for
them, but one technology is not always superior to the other. Stop
acting like it.
Some other things I'd like to see:
1. Cannabis should be legalized and
taxed. It is a recreational drug, just like alcohol and tobacco.
Those two have well-researched and demonstrated negative
consequences, and yet are perfectly legal.
2. All rights and responsibilities
permitted to legal adults are granted upon reaching the same age of
majority, which in Canada is 18. I've never understood why one would
be able to get married, die for one's country, engage in adult
entertainment activities, vote and run for public office, but not be
able to use controlled substances like alcohol or tobacco, should
they choose to. If you're a legal adult, you should be afforded all
of these rights and the responsibilities that go with them.
